Agro-inspired rural innovation:
Putting cooperatives in the center of product development and business models
About Robocoop

Deploying effective regional and circular bio-based Business Models for the valorization of waste streams from 3 agricultural sectors: grape, olive and stone fruit.

Unlocking New Commercial Opportunities for Small and Medium-Scale Farmers

Our approach aims to diversify the income streams of small and medium-scale farmers and cooperatives by introducing a versatile biorefinery model. This model focuses on producing a wide range of biobased products, allowing for the integration of secondary resources into a holistic, closed-loop system. By maximizing the use of every input, we enhance sustainability, reduce the ecological footprint, and boost profitability. Additionally, this strategy fosters positive social impact by empowering local communities and creating more resilient, eco-friendly farming practices.

Driving Sustainable Innovation in Biobased Value Chains

ROBOCOOP-EU brings together 8 key players from the primary sector to establish biobased value chains, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 25-30% through optimized supply chains and logistics. The project will design a zero-waste, multi-feedstock biorefinery at an industrial scale, leveraging existing processes for bio-compound extraction and secondary stream valorization.

We will validate 17 new products, including:

  • 3 food formulations,

  • 3 feed additives,

  • 5 cosmetics and nutraceuticals,

  • 1 plasticizer, and

  • 5 biofertilizers.

To ensure successful implementation across our three regional hubs (Extremadura, Apulia, and Western Macedonia), ROBOCOOP-EU will create 3 “Living Labs”—collaborative spaces where partners and stakeholders co-create sustainable, profitable biorefinery solutions. These spaces will explore public and private funding opportunities for long-term success.
